Friends

Sometimes life gets busy. Sometimes you get so wrapped up in it you forget what you love. Sometimes you prioritize so much that you forget to take time for yourself. This is why it is good to have friends that push you just that little bit and drag you out. Thanks to Jorge and Jay for getting me out there. I couldn't get all of the century in due to time constraints but did get about 66 in. It felt really good and It was good to see my friends and do something I really love. You guys rock!

I haven't been bloggin' like I used to.... (A down and dirty cycling update)

Well, with a baby on the way and a new job, a few things have really suffered. One, my riding has been not nearly enough. I sacrificed this weekend to the yard work gods to get alot of stuff done that I had been ignoring for to long. Two, my blogging has gotten lazy consisting mostly of you tube videos. Those are probably more intersting than my writing anyways.
So here goes with a down and dirty procycling update. Christophe Moreau is leading the dauphine. He looks impressive but I don't really think that he can do it in the tour. Vino' appears to be in form for the tour and looks to be a favorite. How can a guy that was from tmobile and liberty siguros and from a former russian republic escape all of the doping controversy.....? I think he is as fishy as they come. Not my favorite, although his attacking style is fun to watch. His buddy kashekin appears solid as well. Levi seems to be progressing well and will make a run at the podium. Tommy D has been pulled off of the short list for the Tour. Apparently Johan Bruyneel has gotten tired of his stomach ailments and wants him to figure it out. Maybe the Vuelta again.... Basso has just taken a two year ban but his team suspension from csc and disco have been counted and he can ride in october of 08. So two tours and another giro will be missed. Tour de Swisse is going as well as everyone builds for the Tour. I love July! My first tour with Cable. No more begging people to tape it for me!
So there it goes. The down and dirty update. Hope all is well in your world. RAAM is continuing and the guys and crew have figured it out and hit their stride and are now in third place. They are an impressive crew to be doing so well in their first shot at this.
Ciao for Now!

Pearl the Landlord

Will Ferrell goes toe to toe with a two year old.

The Giro and the "Quickstep Raids"

Bettini and Basso
Danilo Diluca shows up in convincing fashion and wins the Giro. Vladimir Gusev wins the tour of Belgium. Who cares? I hope we have a bang up Tour De France because pro cycling is doper after doper after doper. Riis has been taken out of the official Tour De France Roster of winners. Can someone please tell me why Alejandro Valverde has not been charged with anything yet. I suspect that Spanish officials are protecting him. Now for the greatest revelation. Apparently Belgium Police have raided the homes of employees and riders of Team Quickstep. They have confiscated atleast some doping products. So lets see..... two back to back world championships and multiple classics and one stage races as well as many stages in the grand tours. Could that have all been fueled by doping. Yeah.... I think probably so. So where do we go from here? Everyone is dirty and everyone is implicated. I don't have the answer.

Wideawake :: LIVESTRONG LIVE

Somebody asked me the other day why I still wear the wristband. I tell them it is not because I love Lance. I love cycling. I think he is doing great things for cancer. I wear it because cancer is still with us. People are LIVING with cancer everyday. I have taken care of them. I see them. It touches us all. So I wear the wristband not to forget.

Extra Mayo With That!

In a rain soaked stage of the Giro, Iban Mayo might just have made it back onto center stage in the peloton. Iban and another rider broke away before Mayo was able to pull away for a spectacular win. It is great to see him come back as he was THE rider that put fear into Lance in the 2004 (or was it 2003?) Tour. After that amazing demonstration of climbing ability, he promptly fell apart. Yes, I know he dominated in the Dauphine the year after, but then there was nothing. With a change to a new team, ol' Iban might be back on the road to greatness. It was good to see him do well. Speaking of the Giro, who would of thought that Danilo Diluca would be the Giro leader and probable winner or that Andy Schleck would be doing so well in his first real stage race with real mountains. Look out world her comes Andy! Looks like Bjarne is doing a good job bringing him along. Speaking of Bjarne, it sounds like the tour doesn't want him there this year. While I agree what he did was bad, atleast he owned up to it. He didn't say "I just tried to dope" or "I only did it for a week". I think He doped when everyone was doing it. Practically everyone has come out and admitted to it (Except Lance, he never tested positive). What I am saying is be careful with Bjarne. He has been good to the sport since taking over CSC and he is trying measures that other teams are not trying to keep doping out of the sport. He shouldn't be punished for that. He will give his yellow jersey back and that will be the worst punishment he could ever get. Cycling will not benefit from CSC leaving as a sponsor or Bjarne leaving as a D.S.
